aboutus

I’m the owner Steve Mueller. I come from a diverse background and education that spans from initial concept/design of a project to practical fundamental building techniques utilized to complete quality projects. I received my degree from UC Davis in the Design Department which gave me the building blocks and experience to expand into the architectural industry. Throughout my career I have worked in small and medium sized architectural firms expanding my knowledge and experience of design and construction from a designer’s professional perspective. This experience helped me to coordinate and communicate with design firms more effectively and efficiently which lead to more affordable, higher quality projects completed on or ahead of schedule.

I decided early in my career that my love and passion was to manage the whole building process and to get my hands dirty by being in the field where I acquired real world experience seeing what it took to implement my designs and plans.

In turn, my hands on experience allows me to guide the design, plan, and build process for new clients with a keen eye for cost cutting measures, value adds, time savers, and creative solutions. As the leader of Built Environment, I strive to listen closely to clients to make their dreams a reality.

Steve Mueller is creative, especially when it comes to problem solving design or structural challenges. He gives attention to details that have made projects lasting improvements to my home. Steve has done a variety of jobs for me ranging from tractor work, fixing a drainage problem, to replacing all the major support posts on my two large porches with cedar logs. The porch job enhanced an architectural feature of the home that my grandfather had built. The job honored the original look while bringing a custom upgrade. I am very pleased with the result.

OUR PROCESs

I have established a successful multi-step process that involves listening to client’s desires, capturing the desires in an organized, clear way through a transparent communication tool that leads to a preliminary, realistic budget.

Once we have the preliminary budget, we manage costs by the selection of materials or pricing the materials selected by the designers. If we have budget constraints, we work through a thoughtful process to reduce the cost to come to a viable project.

Once the cost is established, we target the schedule and look at how to minimize the impact on the client during the construction phase of the remodel. In some instances with large projects, it may be necessary to vacate the home but in many cases we can plan and organize a project to have minimal impact on the client's normal routine even down to the amount of noise and dust generated.

Every project is a new challenge with opportunities to enhance designs, produce unique spaces, and create beauty.
